🔧 Purpose of Handpiece Lubrication:

1. Reduces friction between internal moving parts.

2. Prevents overheating and premature wear.

3. Removes debris and contaminants from internal components.

4. Extends lifespan of the handpiece.

5. Maintains torque and performance for smooth operation.

🧴 How to Use Dental Handpiece Lubricant:

1. Disconnect the handpiece

• Remove it from the hose or motor before applying lubricant.

2. Use the correct lubricant

• Only use the brand/type recommended by the handpiece manufacturer (e.g., oil-based spray, drops, or automatic lubrication units).

3. Apply through the drive air tube

• Insert the nozzle or dropper into the correct port and apply the recommended amount (usually a few seconds of spray or a few drops).

4. Run the handpiece briefly

• Attach it to an air line or test coupler and run for 20–30 seconds to distribute the lubricant and expel excess oil/debris.

5. Wipe and sterilize

• Clean off any excess lubricant from the exterior, then proceed to autoclave the handpiece if required.
