An orthodontic cutter, also called an orthodontic wire cutter or hard wire cutter, is a dental instrument used primarily in orthodontic procedures to cut various types of orthodontic wires.
Common Types:
Pin & Ligature Cutter: Cuts soft wires and pins, usually intraorally.
Hard Wire Cutter: Designed to cut through thick stainless-steel wires (up to .021" x .025").
Distal End Cutter : Cuts archwire behind the last bracket and holds the cut end to prevent injury.
Ligature Cutter : Used to cut thin ligature wires or elastic ligatures.
Flush Cut Distal End Cutter : cut the distal (rear) end of archwires very close to the last bracket or buccal tube, leaving no protruding wire tip
STD Bird Beak : for bending and forming orthodontic wires, especially loops and contours, and Integrated cutter – for cutting wires without switching tools.
Loop With Cutter : Cutting an orthodontic archwire that includes a loop (such as a closing loop, helix loop, or T-loop) using a specialized cutter, like a flush cut distal end cutter or a hard wire cutter.
Jarabak pliers are orthodontic wire bending pliers used for making precise loops, bends, and right angles in archwires.
